Create This Book 2: Front Cover and First 27 Prompts!
Before I ever had a YouTube channel, I had started working on Create This Book 2 by Moriah Elizabeth. Yeah… I started on Create This Book 2 before the original. Not sure how it happened that way, but that’s the book I had. Probably as a Christmas gift from my parents! So here I’ll talk through my thought process of each page and show some behind the scenes as well! I’ll also link the view where I walk through these pages as well.
Front and Back Cover Design
For the front cover, I went with a cutesy candy style complete with a rainbow on the back since that’s Moriah Elizabeth’s favorite!

Create a Fresh Start
I thought what’s a more fresh start than a freshly transformed butterfly or some vegetables still growing in the ground!

Create Confetti
This page is super special to me. I was expecting our second child, another daughter, whose name is Evie. She’s 16 months as I write this now! We were keeping the name a secret until she was born so the Eevee drawing is a little easter egg and the pink cake because she’s a girl of course!

Create a Page of Lyrics
I’m not a big music lover, but an artist I do really like is Selena Gomez, so I tried to draw a portrait of her and wrote some lyrics of hers on the other side.

Create a Comparison
This page was fun! I decided to draw some outside scenes using colors I love (pink, blue, purple, green) and colors I dislike (mostly orange, but yellow got stuck on this side too so orange wasn’t alone!)

Create a Merge
This was fun! I love cats so I merged a cat (of course) with a cute version of the dumbo octopus. Look it up, it’s a crazy creature!

Create Integration
This page took me FOREVER! I’m obsessed with Meemeows, so when I saw a line on this page, I saw a shelf for Meemeows just like the one I used to have over my desk before I moved. I made this page at Christmas time so I drew the holiday Meemeows, but there weren’t enough, so I even created a few holiday Meemeows of my own! You can see a lot of my planning in the pictures below!

Create a Puzzle
For this page, I took the opportunity to get out my Cricut and cut myself a puzzle after coloring in a coloring page. I had a lot of fun coloring, then redoing the puzzle on the page. I like how the right side is not fully complete so it’s more clear that it’s a puzzle

Create an Assortment
I think I was hungry when doing this page! I did a Moriah Elizabeth inspirated page of desserts. Yum!

Create Word Illustration
I wasn’t really inspired by this page, so I went with a few basic words here, Spark with lightning around it and Melt, which is dripping.

Create a List of Favorites
If you couldn’t tell already, I love Pokemon and cats. So my list of favorites are my favorite cat Pokemon: Skitty, Meowstic, Sylveon, Shinx, and Sprigatito.

Create Randomness
I used a random generator to give me an animal, fruit, and accessory. Not my favorite page, but they can’t all be winners! There’s a pineapple chameleon wearing a top hat and a pomegranate porcupine wearing sunglasses.

Create Shine
This shiny page makes me happy! I drew the outlines for both then I colored in the left side and my mom colored in the right with glitter gel pens. It was fun to color together at the dining table

Create a Self-Portrait
This was a good exercise into thinking about what makes me, me. We have a lily and tulsi (holy basil) to represent my daughters, a cat similar to my first cat to represent all the many pet cats I’ve owned, yarn because I love to crochet, wedding rings to represent my marriage to my lovely husband, a paint pallete to represent my love of art, roller skates as a call back to my favorite activity as a kid that I don’t get much time to do anymore, my favorite sodas Diet Mountain Dew and Diet Coke, a laptop to represent my day job as a software engineer, ballet shoes because I did all types of dance and theater as a child, and red hair because I’ve been dying mine red since I was 12!

Create an Invention
I was missing my parents when doing this prompt and I don’t live close to them, so I invented a teleportation portal that I could step it and instantly be in Tennessee to see them!

Create a Reminder
I created a cheesy (but accurate) reminder for anyone who sees this: You are enough! Fun fact, this page got stuck together so I missed it when doing my walkthrough in my video

Create a Scented Page
This was a nostalgic page because when I think of my favorite scents, one of them is Brittany Spears perfume called Curious that I used as a kid. I also LOVE the smell of Easter Lilies (which are actually white, not pink and blue, but I wanted them to match the perfume). I really like how the left side turned out. That big black section wasn’t there at all, but I made it look like a continuation of the Curious perfume design.

Create Color
This page was fairly simple but I just created 3 new colors but not really because these colors are pretty unoriginal! I created Dazed, Starstruck, and Homesick.

Create Beauty Out of Ugliness
I wanted to try to cute-ify one of the ugliest creatures I could think of, the football fish. This boy is scary. How did I do?

Create Ugliness Out of Beauty
So I chose to color some yummy fruit but then to make them moldy. Fun fact, I actually drew melted ice cream for this page first but the “beautiful” side was too ugly of a drawing for me to use it!

Create Additions
Surprise, another Pokemon page! When I saw these circles, I saw cute round Pokemon: Oddish, Koffing, Drifloon, Zubat, Togedemaru, and Jigglypuff

Create a Status
At this time, I was feeling OVERWHELMED. We were moving from Boston to North Carolina and we were surrounded by boxes. Working in this Create this Book 2 was keeping me sane. This is also where I started thinking about having my own channel, seeing what Ashleigh Monet was doing with her channel and thinking about how awesome and fun it looked!

Create a Character
I find it so fun to create characters and I couldn’t choose one, so I made six! A sugar cookie shark, playful watermelon frog, cozy moon otter, cheeky carrot rabbit, silly galaxy cat, fancy bow deer

Create a Mini Book
My oldest daughter is obsessed with Dora, so I wanted to make a mini book to show her! For a full walkthrough of the mini book, check out the video linked at the top!

Create Drips
This page makes me happy! I especially love this drippy rainbow cat who needs a name!

Create On Black
For the Create on Black prompt in my Create This Book 2 art journal, I used pages from Ashleigh Monet’s Black It Out coloring book to create bold, colorful artwork against a dark background. I colored two cute voodoo doll characters in bright pink and yellow, imagining them as a sweet stitched-together pair named Victor and Valerie. I also colored a rainbow lava lamp cat design, turning the little space cats inside into intergalactic travelers floating through the galaxy. The black background made the bright alcohol marker colors stand out beautifully, especially the pinks, yellows, blues, and rainbow blends. This page was a fun mixed media sketchbook idea and a great reminder that working on black paper can make colorful marker art feel even more vibrant, dramatic, and magical.

Create a Page Page
For the Create a Page Page prompt, I used a printed map as the base of the artwork and turned it into a New England-inspired mixed media page. After darkening the map with a wash of color, I painted a lighthouse scene inspired by Portland Head Light in Maine, along with a sailboat in the foreground. The map background gave the page a vintage travel journal feeling, while the loose sketchy linework made it feel handmade and nostalgic. This prompt became a creative way to combine map art, watercolor, travel memories, and sketchbook journaling into one page. It’s a great art journal idea for anyone who wants to repurpose paper, old maps, book pages, or printed materials into meaningful mixed media artwork.

Create a Day Dream
For the Create a Daydream prompt, I imagined a cozy indoor seating area with a huge window looking out at the Smoky Mountains. This page was inspired by Gatlinburg, winter mountain views, and the peaceful feeling of being wrapped in a blanket with a warm cup of tea while looking out at the scenery. I added soft mountain layers, trees, clouds, and cozy plushies, including a Jellycat-inspired rabbit, a strawberry cat Squishmallow, and a tiny octopus friend. At first, I wasn’t sure the page was coming together, but once the trees, clouds, and final outlines were added, it started to feel warm, peaceful, and complete. This prompt is a perfect cozy art journal idea for anyone who loves mountain landscapes, daydream drawings, travel-inspired sketchbook pages, and quiet creative moments.

We’ll that’s it! I know I covered a lot in this video, but in the future episodes, I tackle four new prompts each time! Bye friends!
