Create This Book 2: Episode 6
Today I tackle 4 prompts from Create This Book 2 again! I do Create A Dream Journal, Create Softness, Create An Inventory, and Create Splatter
Create A Dream Journal
For the Create a Dream Journal prompt in my Create This Book 2 art journal, I decided to turn the idea of a dream into an ultimate travel daydream. Instead of documenting one of my actual dreams, which are usually not very peaceful, I combined three dream destinations into one impossible landscape: the Taj Mahal in India, a gondola ride through Venice, and the glowing Northern Lights. This page became a colorful dream world full of travel inspiration, bright skies, and places I hope to visit one day. I loved blending India, Italy, and the aurora borealis into one surreal sketchbook spread because it made the page feel magical, personal, and full of possibility. This is a great travel-inspired art prompt for anyone who wants to turn their bucket list destinations into a creative art journal page.

Create Softness
For the Create Softness prompt, I wanted the entire page to feel gentle, cozy, and sweet. I started with a soft baby blue cloud-shaped background, then used colored pencils to draw a mother and baby giraffe inspired by a recent zoo trip with my daughters. Colored pencils were the perfect choice for this prompt because they helped create a fuzzy, soft fur texture that felt very different from my usual marker art. To make the page even softer, I added real 3D fabric clouds using animal-print material that matched the giraffes. This prompt turned into a sweet mixed media sketchbook page about softness, motherhood, plush textures, and cozy animal art.

Create An Inventory
For the Create an Inventory prompt, I drew a random collection of things I own, including something homemade, old, gifted, thrifted, cute, new, broken, and ugly. This page became a fun little visual inventory of my life, with items like a handmade crochet blanket, an old Disney Aristocats pin, acrylic markers, a free roadside kids’ slide, a cute MeeMeow plush, Create This Book, a Bop It, and a very wobbly dining chair. Each object had its own story, which made this prompt feel part sketchbook challenge and part memory journal. It’s a fun art journal idea for anyone who wants to document everyday objects, personal favorites, sentimental items, and funny little things around the house.

Create Splatter
For the Create Splatter prompt, I created an underwater scene using paint splatters and negative space. I taped off simple sea creature shapes, including an octopus and seahorse, then splattered blue and green paint across the page to create a messy ocean background. Once the paint dried and the tape came off, the sea creatures appeared through the splatter effect. The page was chaotic and definitely challenged me, but adding orange outlines helped the animals stand out against the busy background. This mixed media art prompt was a great experiment in splatter painting, ocean art, negative painting, and learning how to embrace a messy creative process even when the final result is not perfect.
